If she had died or received serious injury it wouldn't be funny. But she didn't. She just got splatted. So it funny
imo
Where do we draw the line at what's funny and what's tragic?
The human bean has always found the quasi-tragic funny, oh how those Romans laughed when them lions munched on Christians in the arena.
In the early eighties I had a regular disco booking at Hammersmith. One Friday evening I was sitting in the passenger seat of the Transit as we crawled along in very slow moving traffic through Wandsworth. I noticed a little way ahead some kids playing on their pushbikes.
They had arranged this plank sloping up to some wooden boxes and were riding their bikes up the plank as fast as they could and flying through the air. All was going well, the kids were doing some good bike jumps.
As we were very near one kid, a young lad aged about 11 I suppose, done his run, up the plank, took off, but when he landed his front wheel went sideways and over the handlebars he went. He landed on the pavement full on his face and rolled over.
I immediately burst out laughing and was rolling all over the place with uncontrollable mirth. The kid, meanwhile was sitting up with a rather bloody mouth and nose crying his eyes out.
One of my mates in the van with me said to me 'You rotten b*****d how could you you laugh at that?'
I dunno, just looked funny to me
You could say there are many things we undertake that carry a risk. Riding bikes up planks and flying through the air and firing water melons from giant catapults, to my mind, are two of those things.
