The keyboard is dead and probably causing a short. Google "how to
replace keyboard on 'type your laptop model here'" - put the whole
sentence in double qhotes " ". Using the Googled instructions,
remove the keyboard and see if any liquid got to the motherboard
underneath.
I know how to remove my keyboard and did so, following basic
instructions in the manual. There was water under there, tho I'd
already used nearly all my can of compressed air blowing in every
possible place. I caught the water with a tissue and blew some
with the blow dryer on NO heat to dry any dampness but not so much
pressure to drive the water elsewhere, which is what I think the
compressed air did.
If so, and it was only water, dry it out using a fan
or some other form of moving air - NOT A HAIR DRYER. When it's
dry, and with the keyboard still removed, see if it'll power on.
The problem is it won't power on. For several days now all there
is are flashing orange lights in the 3 3 2 sequence. That means
something. I hoped somebody here knew what it was, but I guess
not.
If so, see if it'll boot - most will boot without the keyboard.
That won't happen as there's no difference between the on/off
button unless I remove the power cord. Then the orange light stop
flashing their code.
If it boots, use the mouse to shut it back down and re-install
the keyboard. If it still won't power on, then Google
"replacement keyboard for 'model #' laptop". Look for an
'aftermarket' replacement, which normally cost less than $75, and
order it.
Nope. I've ordered a new computer and will take this one to Geek
Squad. This is beyond anything I can fix or experiment with until
I know what those flashing orange lights are trying to tell
somebody who knows.
I appreciate you being the ONLY one who made any effort to help me.
I do want a new keyboard anyway as I've literally worn OUT this one
and did replace some of the keys but they don't work very good and
more are causing problems. If Geek Squad charges waaay more than
$75. for a new one, then I might order one as you suggested.
Thanks again ... Ron
