I get a bloop or water drop sound when i'm
using internet explorer. This seems to only
happen when the page reloads or updates.
Does anyone know how to disable this sound?

Do you have SP2? If so, that's your pop-up blocker. You'll see an orange
bar just under the IE toolbar, right click for options.

I don't have SP2

Hi jr :-)

Some sounds can be associated with normal activities. If the information
Peter has provided regarding the popup blocker does not resolve the issue,
then you might try the following.

Clearing Sounds:

Go to "Settings" and "Control Panel" and then hit the "Sounds & Multimedia"
icon. Click on the "Sounds" tab, and scroll down in the window until you get
to the "Windows Explorer" heading. There's a list of events, such as
"Complete Navigation", "Empty Recycle Bin", etc.

On the Complete Navigation and Start Navigation headings, if there is a
little speaker icon, that means there is a sound associated with it.
Highlight that heading and then hit the little right-arrow button to play
the sound.

If you want to clear that sound, all you have to do is highlight the event
you want to clear, then click on the drop-down menu that lists the sounds,
and scroll all the way to the top and click on "None."

Once you're finished clearing the sounds, click on "Apply" and then "OK".

--Note - you may get a pop-up window asking if you want to save the scheme
you were in before you change it -- you can decide if you want to save the
sound scheme - if not, just hit "NO" and go on to clear the sounds you don't
want.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Ah well, I tried! Then go into "Sounds" and change the item's sound as
suggested in another answer.

Jan :-)

Thanks for the reply.
unfortunately this did not work.
also, I am running SP1, so what Peter suggested does not
apply.

thanks,
jr

I'm afraid that's got me..:-)) Hopefully someone else here will have an
answer for you. I know that would drive me bonkers too!

Perhaps you have some kind of program running in the
background? - perhaps do a spyware check.
Have you downloaded any themes, wallpapers, skins lately?
Some of these come with hidden extras.

Do you use Pest Patrol? Or yahoo toolbar? Or google toolbar? They all have
popup blockers. The sound may be coming from one of them.

Think by now I'd be driven to just look up the .wav file and rename the dang
thing, or just wax it! ;o)))
