Water Bridge in Germany

Six years, 500 million euros, 918 meters long.......now this is engineering!

This is a channel-bridge over the river Elbe and joins the former East and West Germany, as part of the unification project.

It is located in the city of Magdeburg, near Berlin. The photo was taken on the day of inauguration.

Now who would think of a water bridge on water and how the water level can be maintained.

When your weary and feeling small...........oh I love that song!:D

Egyptians nicked it off the Babylonians ... ;)

Not sure, but I think they in turn pinched the idea off the Martians. :D

Regardless of Origin... that structure is impressive. Just thinking about how strong that structure must be to bear that load. Also the thought of maintnance and up keep.

A description of it does no justice... it trully is an amazing sight.
