When I check a message with the "Eyeglasses", it used to keep the message at
the top of the list. Now it is highlighting it in red, but not keeping at
the top. What did I screw up to make this happen???

Click the eyeglasses at the top of the column.
If they go to the bottom click the eyeglasses again.

Not much to go on but I'll make a guess.

Assuming that you are talking about Outlook Express, there are
several things in the menu bar, subject, from ,sent etc. one of these
is the eyeglasses. Clicking any one of these will sort the list
of messages by that criteria. One click gets ascending order second
click gets descending order or the opposite if it was descending order
to start.
