Wat happened to my files & folders? Wat should i do?

Pls help as much as u can. Ive at least 2 problems to solve. THANKS!

1) Few days ago, 1st time, ive Windows Vista Home Premium installed. All the
while ive no problem wit this. But, few days ago i installed Panda Security
Software. I thought its ok & hv no problem.

However, after installing & downloading, everything went on fine. But, after
i restart my computer, i couldnt get into Windows Vista as usual & it took so
long to get into it. I finally frustrated of waiting, i swithched off my
computer immediately.

So, then, the problem comes out. My computer says that Windows did not
switched off properly & there r some errors. So i decided to go into safe
mode. Finally, i got into safe mode & it went on successfully into Windows
Vista. Unfortunately, Windows asked to Restore to the earlier state bcos
either of problems of installation. So, i did just that thinking that Panda
Security Software might has caused problem to my Windows Vista. I decided to
Restore it (The memory available for Drive C is just mere 10% & i dont know
whether Panda Security Sofware has taken up so much of space on my drive C &
i thinks thats why my computer couldnt restart automaticall to Windows Vista
when i restarted it. I need to get rid of it).

Then, Windows uninstalled Panda Security Software from my computer.
Unfortunately, there r some bits & pieces of Panda Security Sofware files &
folders in my Program Files & i couldnt delete it as it asked for security
permission & it says ive no permission to delete. I'm the administrator & the
owner of my computer. Wats wrong with this?

2) How do i minimize my memory available in my Drive C? Can i move some
files to Drive D from Drive C? Wat r those files i can do? Pls advice me
whether is Windows Update good for my computer or its taking up more memory
space especially from my Drive C? Ive been installing Windows Update till
now. Ive just upgraded my computer to 1GB b4 i installed Windows Vista Home
Premium & now i only hv 10% left in my Drive C but hv at least 90% in my
Drive D.

I need ur help. Pls expert? Solve it?
 
Could you provide details of the computer you are using is a desktop or laptop?
What brand of computer & Specs?
What are the sizes and label names of your C: & D: drives?
Do you have drive labeled 'Recovery" if so which one?
If Panda has definitely been removed from your computer, the left over files
will not cause a problem at this stage, will advise how to remove when you
provide additional info.
Also if Panda has been removed and you are using the net you should have a
AV program installed, as a temp measure at least down load AVG Free.

I assume you mean increasing the available disk space. You do not tell us
how much total space your drive has, but I recommend you run Disk Cleanup
from the Accessories menu to free up some space.

If your ressources are stretched, reduce the storage System Restore uses, as
this can free up a lot of space. Open up a command prompt as admin
(right-click the icon and select Run as Administrator). At the prompt, type:

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=C: /For=C: /Maxsize=???

You can set any max size you wish (where the question marks are), but keep
in mind each restore point requires approx. 300MB, and you should make room
for several points. The Maxsize value takes both MB and GB suffixes.

Keep Windows Update on! It is your best insurance against security,
stability and performance problems. The updates claim some disk space, but
it is not much and it is definitely worth it.

RAM memory has nothing to do with hard disk space. You need to tell us the
capacity of your hard drive(s) before anyone can give specific advice.

Some computers come with multiple drives or logical volumes. Sometimes there
is a small D drive where the restore files are stored. Do not tamper with
such a volume, you might need it one day.

If this is not the case, and your D drive is just a regular one, then by all
means store files on it. Move user files only, such as documents, pictures
and videos. Leave Windows, programs and and settings files where they are.

THX FOR YOUR REPLY. BELOW MY NOTETOOK namely LAPTOP SPECS AS REQUESTED. HOPE
MIGHT HELP:-
1) PROCESSOR : AMD TURION (TM) 64 MOBILE TECHNOLOGY ML-34 1.80 GHz (40GB HDD
RAM) 256MB DDR -#when i bought it 2yrs ago. but now upgraded to 1GB already
but dont know is it still DDR1 or DDR2 now.
2) MEMORY RAM : 1.25 GB
3) SYSTEM TYPE : 32-BIT OPERATING SYSTEM
4) SYSTEM MANUFACTURER : NEC CI
5) SYSTEM MODEL : VERSA A2200 NN970230995
6) BIOS : PHOENIX BIOS 4.0 RELEASE 6.0

FROM START, THEN COMPUTER, IT SHOWS ONLY LOCAL DISK DRIVE C & LOCAL DISK
DRIVE D, UNSPECIFIED DVD CD/RW DRIVE E & MY SHARING FOLDERS.

WAT ELSE NEED TO KNOW? I KNOW MY COMPUTER IS OLD BUT NEVERTHELESS, ITS STILL
VERY GOOD.

PLS HELP. THX.

TO REMOVE IT. HOPE IT WILL REALLY REMOVES IT!

IVE ANSWERED BOBL'S MESSAGE AS REQUESTED ABOUT MY NOTEBOOK'S SPECS HERE.
HOPE DO HELP. PLS REFER.

WILL TRY TO BRING SOME FILES TO 'DRIVE D' AS MENTIONED. :)

The advice Charlie42 has given is all correct advice.
From the info provided you have one drive (40gb), divided into (2) two
partitions:
C: & D:, normally one of those drives (partition) (normally 6 -10gb in size
) contains the recovery data to restore your computer back to factory
condition, this drive should not be tampered with, by the information
provided, in your case it appears to be Drive C:.
Your Drive D: appears to be your operating system drive, I am assuming this
is approx. 30gb in size, this is where operating system, programs and data
are located.
The drive configuration that you describe is not normal because on most
PC's, C: (is normally the OS drive) & D: (the recovery drive). Yours appears
to be reversed.
When you you install a program, they normally automatically install to the
C: drive.

I realize this a bit long winded but it would be helpful if we knew what the
size and contents were on each drive, ie which drive is the operating system
installed.

Just an example one of my PC's has this drive setup:
C: Compaq -100GB ( operating system & programs installed)
D: Factory Image -10gb (factory image of Vista, which can be used to return
the PC to factory condition)(I leave this drive alone)
E: Data Storage - 300GB (contains program data & backup, etc)
Plus other drives with various setups.

I GUESS.... DIFFRENT NOTEBOOK DIFFRENT BUILT IN. YOURS IS THE LATEST &
DIFFRENT MANUFACTURER...

MY PC HAS ALL THE PROGRAM FILES & WINDOWS FILES & FOLDERS & SETTINGS R IN
DRIVE C:

DRIVE D: R SOME FILES & FOLDERS SUCH AS DATA ETC..

I THINK U MENTION WRONGLY THAT THE DRIVE C: IS THE RECOVERY DRIVE & DRIVE D:
IS THE OS FOR MY COMPUTER.?

ERRR.... DONT GET U. I THINK MY COMPUTER IS NORMAL & NOT REVERSE....

I WENT TO THE LINK TO UNINSTALL IT BUT I ONLY RECEIVE NEW FOLDER ABOUT THAT
UNINSTALL PANDA. BUT THE PANDA SECURITY FILES STILL HANGING IN MY PROGRAM
FILES STILL THERE & I TRIED TO DELETE IT BUT STILL COULDNT.

First of all, do not post in all capitals. It is hard to read and considered
to be shouting.

I do not believe the Panda files and folders are having any effect on your
computer performance, but with as little as 40GB of hard drive storage I
understand well that you wish to free up the space.

Reboot, hit the F8 key until you get a list of boot options and pick "Safe
Mode" from the list. A bare-minimum WinVista will boot, and you can try to
delete the Panda files in this mode. One tedious, but fairly simple method I
have found to work, is to delete the contents of the subfolders before you
delete the folders themselves.

Consider to obtain an external hard drive, or at least some USB memory
sticks to add more storage. If you have a bit of third party programs

hi charlie42,

thanks. will try. mayb upgrade my pc to 2GB. no choice. ive done some
changes to my files in C & D drives... no wonder people say they hate windows
vista. now i know after read some comments people gave.

i'm glad that the panda security software has been taken off from my pc.

hope if anymore problems, keep in touch. may i know r u a computer
specialist? just asking. :)
