Was it all a conspiracy?

Seems like it was part of some grand & immense conspiracy to get Microsoft
to release IE 7.

It seems to have succeeded in sending droves of users to other browsers -
Firefox getting the major share of the spoils.

Gee, I sure didn't know that the people behind Mozilla had such sway.

;-)

Live long and prosper. Damn the Vulcans for stealing our line.

Hi,

Disclaimer: Personally, I have no opinion on which is the "best" browser and
perceive that kind of debate is a bit of childish, so I'm reluctant to join
that kind of discussions.

However, I do think MS has made a few mistakes for IE's installation:

(1) its reluctance to inform users that IE is not totally independent to OS.
It is understandable for why it is doing so, but it mislead people by
underestimating the complexities of installing the new IE.

(2) it could have done a even better job on installation instructions
including preparations for the new IE. This is somehow related to (1).

(3) the installer is not very well written. For example, it should have
detected and warned user if they did not shut down certain applications
and/or services which may cause compatibility issues. I have tested on
several systems and it is not the case for the installer. Since I had no
failed experience at this time, I wonder whether it has a "roll back"
feature when installation could not complete successfully, but I doubt it
has one because so many people are complaining that both IE 6 and IE 7 are
screwed up.

For its own benefits, I surly hope the company can make corrections, at
least, on (2) and (3) ASAP, but I won't be surprised for it won't do so and
many of its knights refuse to accept it.

And just what is "it" to which you refer? You know the context of
your statement. You did not provide that context to anyone else to
know what is the "it" that you failed to mention.

Yep, it must be a space cadet thing, only other galactic space cadets
would understand.

Microsoft needs to bring back spock an scotty from the shore leave...

they left sulu and checkov to do the IE7 designing ;-)

LMAO !!
Of course the biggest joke is MS's new slogan " Upgrade With Confidence"
I suggest a NEW slogan... "Install By Accident, Uninstall With Haste"

Cheers.

LOL, that's a good one. Why not sell it to its competitors? ;)
