All BETA software is inherently dangerous to an OS. Therefore, one
should NOT install Microsoft AntiSpy BETA1 unless one has either
Imaged the Hard Drive or backed up their data.

Microsoft AntiSpy BETA1 will remove ONLY what YOU choose to remove.
It REMOVES NOTHING unless YOU CHOSE TO REMOVE IT.

Therefore, please do some research on what it identifies as spyware
prior to removing it.

Google is your friend !

" Beta Support Policy

* Important Information:
This is pre-release (beta) software distributed for feedback and
testing purposes. Microsoft does not provide technical support for beta
releases (see below for information about how to gain access to
newsgroups). If Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) is causing an issue with your
system, we recommend removing it by using Add or Remove Programs and
even using System Restore if the problem persists. "
========================================================================

IF you fear that it will cause system instability, break networking,
apps, programs, internet connectivity, or raise security issues,
DO NOT INSTALL IT !!!

Blaming MS for your issues is passing the buck.

NO ONE is endorsing nor FORCING you to install this BETA software.

Nonsense,, this is a genuine Microsoft program from the
real Microsoft Software team in colloration with giant,
the firm they bought, it works fine no problems, no
software is perfect, its no doubt is better than the rest
of them, taking into account all of WINDOWS thats
compatible with it, some of this other antispyware , that
is not beta is far far less. Some of it says Security
holes exist, that were fixed long ago, others point to
Macromedia as having spyware in it , ect, ect

This is NOT a " genuine Microsoft program ".

Show me one place on their website where it's so described.
Here's some links that ALWAYS mention BETA :

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892279

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Therefore, you do not understand that this is a BETA program.
You are now officially ignored, sir.

They bought this software from Giant. It's garbage. It has
deleted mp3 files if you use kazaa and deletes your Sp2
firewall. So what else does it do? Well, it hogs your
resources and runs as slow as molasses. Thankfully i shut
this down and uninstalled it. But i did report two errors
for non response to microsoft. They must know there is a
problem with this software. Don't bundle it with Longhorn
unless you want everyone to switch to Linux...POST THIS OR
DIE!!! They didn't post this last time i posted on this
subject. If you can't put out a quality software program
then admit it when you screwed up and post my reply!

Eric;
I think you need to research a little of what it means to be Beta.
Also Beta is something you should keep away from since the data on your
computer is important to you, again, this is a Beta product.

It's pointless presenting the facts to some folks, Jupiter.
But it's worse if we don't dispel the FUD that they attempt to spread.
Anyone who has used Giant knows that this is NOT the same version of
their malware remover/protection program.

No problems with the PCs I've installed it on, but they are all non-critical
PCs and I made a system restore point first. Sigh, it is beta software, are
there so many wannabee techies installing it with their brains on hold?

Looks like a potentially great bit of software to me, with the live updates
and protection (not just detection), just hoping the pricing is good (free
for personal use, like AdAdware would be good. With a corporate centrally
managed solution for networks at a reasonable price)....

Thanks for the feedback, Andy. Don't have any info on the pricing, but
something along the same model of AdAware SE would be nice .
A free version for just scanning the system and a paid one with
real-time protection and other bells and whistles would be appropriate,
IMHO.
