My antispyware will not update because of the above. I
don't know how to fix it. Why won't it connect? I am
not a computer whiz, just a regular person who uses a
computer. Can someone tell me what I should do about
this. Thanks.

Hi Dawn:

Removing some spamware programs causes the Internet
connection or the firewall to become non-functioning.
Here are the fixes:
Open Internet Explorer, click File and ensure that Work
Offline is not checked.
For no Internet connection, if using XPSP2: at the
command prompt, type: netsh winsock reset <enter> and
reboot. See this MS article for additional info and
other OS versions.

To enable Windows Firewall in Windows XP SP2
1. Click Start; Click Run; type Firewall.cpl and then
click OK.
2. On the General Tab click ON (Recommended) and
then click OK.

Hope this helps,

I just downloaded the antispyware, and can't get it to
update either ... "Warning, could not connect to the
internet!" I know I'm connected to the internet, it's
working fine otherwise (I have cable). Any suggestions?

What browser do you use?

If you open Internet Explorer, is it set to Work Offline? Or, is a proxy
set, when no proxy exists?

I have the same problem I am always connected to the
internet through our wireless network but it refuses to
connect. I even thought I might have blocked it access in
Norton Internet Security but I have cleared all the logs
and I still have a problem. =O(
