g'day guys

not much into gaming myself but tried to install win xp sp2 onto a friends
system

warcraft 3 was running fine previously, but after sp2 install, trying to run
w3
gives only a splashscreen then hung system

went to blizzard website and found that the only reference to sp2 for w3
support was a problem involving the xp sp2 firewall. i didn't have the win
xp sp2 firewall installed but i removed the sygate firewall to be sure to be
sure. programs still hangs

uninstalled sp2 & thankfully all back to normal again

appreciate any advice as to permanent solution with sp2

regards

I've found that some solutions which have worked so far which includes:

1. Update your Video Drivers:
http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/Video

2. Update your System Drivers:
http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/Video.html#v11

3. Adjust your BIOS Settings:
Set AGP Aperture size in bios to 128
(Set it to 256 if you have over 512 MB RAM)
More ideas: http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/Video.html#v15

4. Update your BIOS (actually hold off on this step for now)
It did work for one person, however skip to the next step first..

5. Install any game updates as they become available.
