Just love THIS story.

What a great old fella, making his own way to France and to hell with everyone else ( including his wife it seems ) after being told he couldn't go. :D

We loved that story too. Such spirit and determination. So glad he was able to join the Commemoration with his fellow Veterans. Brave men all of them.

Aye, the BBC News site gave a lot of good coverage for the D-Day anniversary, I liked this picture gallery:

And this pic in particular:

British veterans, including Bill Price (who will be 100 in July), returned to the beaches they stormed 70 years ago:

Your picture FBS is taken on the beach at Arromanches or Gold Beach on D-Day.
I visited & and stayed their last October and even then the town was gearing up for 6th June.

Sadly the Normandy Veterans are now disbanding as this has been their last organized trip back to the beaches they so bravely thought on. We must remember those that fought on the beaches and those who sadly died also so that we could be free.

That ends my bit!

Read about this this morning on Facebook. Bit dissapointing it was posted on a BNP page though.
