I would like to access my office network from home.

This is what works:

Using a d-link804hv with no special settings, if I use the Windows XP and
the built-in XP VPN client (on my home computer), I can successfully connect
to my workplace Windows Server 2003 that has the VPN service turned on
(RAS). The connection seems to work wonderfully well, everything is as I
expected. It is reliable and hasn't dropped the connection even though it
has been running for days. Life appears to be good.

What I want:

I would like to configure a bunch of dlink routers and send them home with
people who have zero technical skills. I would like to have the router make
the vpn connection and not their home PC (which might be Windows or Mac).
The dlink804hv is suppose to have a VPN client built-in. Ideally the dlink
at home would establish the VPN tunnel to our Windows 2003 Server at work
and the end user would be oblivious to the magic that is occurring.

I have not figured out what are the magic settings to make this work. There
are a multitude of various types of settings to play with. I am asking here
first hoping that someone has done this already. I will check this group
for replies, thanks in advance if you can help.

ps: If someone has a web link that describes the above scenario, pass it on
and I'll sort it out on my own. More than willing to try and learn!

Many our clients use CMAK so that you just create one VPN client and export to all users. This link may help,

TS over VPN
Save or export a VPN client settings for others. To use TS over VPN, normally
you need to establish VPN using the VPN username and password first. ...

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately they all appear to be client side modifications which is not the desired result. I will need to support ANY client without prior knowledge of their arrival. It could be a PDA, Windows, OSX or even a Linux machine. I probably will not have access to their machine. The ideal solution would be an infrastructure maintained link that knows how to VPN traffic to our central location without the user knowing or caring why it works. The d-link router was one idea. A linux router or some other appliance would be another. I would rather not load up ISA but that might do it also.
