Something to turn my keyboard off or lock it when I'm not at the computer.
Dang cats keep shutting down/hibernating the darn thing when I'm sleeping.
No frills. ;-) WinXP

[Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del] and Choose "Lock Computer". It requires your
password to reactivate the keyboard.

In XP (the OP's operating system), this does not work if the user has
fast user switching enabled (as most users do).

You can use windows+L to quickly log out the current user. You will
then have to click on your user name and enter your password to
reactivate.

Crystal Software's Clean'n'Go will do what you want - it's designed to
disable you keybaord and/or mouse for cleaning without having to
disconnect it or power your system down.
