Hi I am looking for a DVD RW drive. Looking to replace one of my CDRW drives.

Does anyone have one that they don't need anymore?

If not can you find one for me that is cheaper than £15 including p and p?

Thanks

These ones from Amazon and Play.com are the cheapest I can find delivered.

Most seem about £17.99, so it's a few quid over budget. I usually try to get NEC drives, as they have done me well - and I'm sure I normally don't pay much more than £20 for them. It might be worth upping your budget just a little to make sure you get a good drive :thumb:

Aria have one of their "daily offers" of an NEC priced at £16.44 (which includes VAT) if that's any help :)

EDIT: Oops! You might want to cancel that thought.... their delivery charges are a bit "sticky" sorry, should have checked before posting.:o

thanks for that guys

Taffycat I hate these silly delivery charges they are so annoying don't you think?

I did also look on ebay but they end up going for closer to £20 than £17

I will take your advice Admin and get a NEC one.

But will wait for a bit in the hope that someone on this forum is willing to sell me one

Yes Psd99 - I would agree with you  Some companies charge sums for postage/packing, that other companies reserve only for very large items. Just out of interest, I have just ordered four pairs of slippers and a pair of shoes from a certain company, they are only making a charge of £2.99, which I think is fair as the parcel will be bulky. The DVD RW you are after looks as if it would be pretty small and lightweight, yet when I looked at Aria's delivery charges, they were quoting "£6.95 for orders made over the Internet, £8.95 for telephone orders" with additional surcharges for next-day etc. That really bumps up the cost of the original item

Good luck in getting your DVD RW :thumb:

Cheers I like Play and Ebuyer because they do offer free delivery.

Play are brilliant for me, free delivery on everything! :)

I've got one or two.

PM me PSD, I can get you the model numbers when I get home from work.

Chris

No worries, I did read it, just I don't get home till around 6, so I'll PM you when I've looked at the drives.

At most it'll be a tenner for one of the drives, as they are basically brand new.

no problems look forward to it

I am in the non dvd rw machine right now... :)

Just to confirm is it IDE and not SATA?

looks good mate how much do u want for it?

It's IDE.

Not sure, when do you need it by, the earliest I could post it would be Friday unfortunately.

I'm on a business trip tomorrow.

No rush pal, Friday is good thanks.

Are you that guy that deals with all that webspace? I remember you now!

Is paypal okay for you?

Let me know how much you want

cheers

Indeed, I am the "webspace" guy.

It's just that I had Ian change my username earlier on the forum.

How much are you willing to part with, as I said it was used for maybe a month and comes with everything in the picture, which is basically everything that was in the box initially.

I'd like to think a tenner is reasonable enough for everything, so just a flat tenner and I'll include the P&P within that.

I am sure that you joined this site twice, but perhaps I am getting you confused.

thanks mate a tenner is music to my ears! I know I won't get one like that cheaper.

Please PM me your paypal address and I can pay you before the end of tomorrow.

It should be all there if Royal Mail are telling the truth!

Hope it fits and works properly...

Hi thank you very much I got the drive today.

I have it installed but not yet able to power her up.

Will keep you posted.

p.s well packaged! :)
