Is there some easy way for me to enter some text such that it
becomes the screen's wallpaper?

Of course, I probably need to scale up the font or to repeat the
text in order to fill the screen.

In your newsgroup reader, check the newsgroup list for this server
microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize and try your question on that board.

You may want to look into Active Desktop for some how-to articles, but it
will allow you to do things like this.

Wallpaper is just an image and you can create one containing text using MS
Paint.

After putting it on the desktop Set Display Properties -> Desktop ->
Position to "stretch" and it will enlarge it to fill the screen.

You don't even need active desktop.

You can create your image (be sure the size of the image meets the screen size
that you want) and save it as a "BMP" format file in the Windows folder.

Then, Right click on the desktop, properties, desktop, then scroll thru
background for your file. Select options to tile or stretch if desired.

That's it!
