I have a new turntable with a digital output (SPDIF). I was told I could just plug this in and Windows XP software (I assume the Sound Recorder) would be able to record my albums which I could then put on CD. Not sure if I am plugging in to the right jack or what but I can't get it to work.

Plus! Digital Media Edition has a utility called Plus! Analog Recorder (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/plus/dme/Music.asp#analog) that lets you easily record your vinyl albums on your computer. You simply get a mini-jack stereo convertor and plug the mini jack into your "line in" on your soundcard. Launch the Analog Recorder and you can start recording the album. You can remove hisses and pops and once you save it in my music, you can even have windows media player 9 series go find the meta data for you and the album art

I am having similar problems. On sound manager the input device is set as default to microphone. I managed to change it to 'line in' on one occasion but dont know how. I have searched help etc but cant find a way to change it?

To ajax42:
To change your recorder to line in, go to Settings, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, then the Audio tab and the Volume button under Sound Recording. You can then select Line In instead of Microphone.
