I want to get rid of my old cdrom and put in a new cdrom.cdrw. I have a

Well this is the wrong group and making the change is trivial. All you need
is a screwdriver and to look at the "manual" that comes with the unit.

I'd say not to bother with just a CD and go with a DVD RW +- etc. They are
at about $100.00 now.
