Want to move points horizontally/vertically

Hi,
After I draw an object I sometimes want to move the vertecies (points)
horizontally or vertically, but if I hold down Shift while moving them - it
doesn't help. Is there any other way to make sure I move them perfectly
horiz. or vertically?

I use PPT 2007. But it I don't want to resize the whole object but only move
vertecies ome by one...?

There's no easy way to do this.

Make sure you have SP2 - this improved the drawing engine a lot!

Try showing guides (right click on empty screen > grids & guides) Turn on
snap to other objects

Move the guides so they pass through the point and try dragging the point.
Not very covenient though.

Okey... sigh... thank you for the advise.

Is Microsoft happy with their Win version of PPT2007? After having worked
with computer graphics since 1986 I must say that to find something so
user-unfriendly you would have to go back to the early 1990's. The most
useful tasks seem to never be improved - they are still too crude. What is
going on?
 
Seems like there aren't enough modifiers. While clicking and moving a
vertex,
1. Hold Ctrl to resize the shape vertically/horizontally equally.
2. Hold Shift to resize the shape while keeping the aspect ratio.
3. Hold Alt to disregard the guides.
4. Hold Ctrl+Shift to resize the shape while keeping the aspect ratio and
the centre of the shape.
Alt+Shift, Ctrl+Alt and Ctrl+Alt+Shift all have set meanings.

You could have used Shape Properties from my ProTools add-in:
http://officeone.mvps.org/protools/protools_shape_properties.html - while it
does allow you fine control over Left, Top, Height and Width of the shape
but it does not do vertices. So, it may not be of much help for you.

Hi Eva,

Some of us will agree that some things are difficult. But the folks we know
at MS are so keen about PowerPoint that it is a blessing to work with
PowerPoint and not some other application!
