I have WinXP Pro, Ati 9700 pro

can I install an ati rage 3d pro in a pci slot to hook up another monitor?

This may be all wrong, I tried a google search and went to ati site, but
couldn't find the info I needed to start.

Everything I found was how to set up your monitor etc....
Thanks in advance for any help. Even a link

Thank you so much for the link, I now have multi monitors working, but my tv
does not work at all :( ..... hehehe I want it ALL! wonder if it is
possible.

Thanks for the help, will look through the posts to see if someone else is
having this same problem as I.

The card with the tv out probably also has to be primary. On top of that,
ATI's driver etc. has problems with more than one ATI card in system (Radeon
and Xpert98 here). You can get everything to work properly but there's
always some gotcha's to screw up system trying various options if you're not
carefull, e.g. I have workarounds for my workarounds :)

Oh Joy!!! and well ..... to tears! After many configurations that my mind
could figure out, I decided that I would not have my tv as long as I have
multi monitors, when I want the tv, I will have to go disable the multi
monitor card and then restart - go into bios and set agp as primary, then
capture from tv.

Thank you (I think) for confirming my dreadful suspicions.... and to think -
I paid $599.00 for this ati aiw 9700 pro card. Couldn't wait for price to go
down....

I can do one workaround, but afraid I don't know enough about it to have
workarounds for my workarounds.

Well, here is another idea, just hit me.... what if I just bought
another pci card OTHER than ATI? Wow, what a concept, you would THINK that
ATI would work better with ATI ... any recomendations? I sure don't want
to pay much, no more than $50.00, Hark, I hear ebay a callin.....
I also have a winfast geforce2 that is just sitting around-not goin to do me
any good cause it is AGP.

Thanks a lot for your help!!!!!

All I can add is that, for my system the bios decides if it's agp or pci is
primary when booting (e.g. what displays opening bios info etc.). I did have
to get it setup with just the Radeon (AGP) in system by itself first. Got
that all working correctly before putting Xpert in system. Then install ONLY
the Xpert's driver, nothing else or it'll destroy the multi-media the
Radeon's got installed.

Updating drivers is the same bitch of a procedure but it does all work.

You could also use a DVI-->VGA adaptor to have another monitor on your
9700, although it would
be limited to a 60Hz. refresh rate..
I have dual monitors with my 9700 Pro. I just set the second monitor to 100
Hz with no problem. I strongly suggest you use MultiRes from:
http://www.entechtaiwan.com It's a free utility that has an icon in the
SysTray for each monitor allowing you to instantly set resolution and
refresh rate. Add a shortcut to MultiRes in your Startup directory.

I have decided to forget about multi monitor (at least with this Ati Rage 3d
pro card) until I get a different pci card or will look into adding 2nd
monitor to my present aiw 9700 pro. That seems like the best thing to do,
but haven't looked into that yet.

Anyone have any links for this?

I did get the rage 3d working, but was having problems with everything
slowing down for some reason. Printing 1 8x10 took forever, disabled the
monitor and the printer started working fine again. Oh well....

Thanks so much for all the helpful posts!!

Would like to know more about dual monitors with the 9700 pro, how is that
possible, I only have one monitor connection and I did a search on the
dvi-vga adaptor and I already have that one and still cannot connect two
monitors .... obviously I am at the airport and the plane flew right
over.....

I have the AIW 9700 Pro.

The only All-In-Wonder that supports dual monitors is the 9600.

The 9700 Pro supports dual monitors, It seems the AIW does not as it does
not have a DVI connecter for the second monitor.
