Hi,
Win2000 can only be upgraded to WinXP Pro, you can't do it with the WinXP
Home version. To install the WinXP Home CD, you will need to format and do a
clean installation (which will of course result in the loss of all data
currently on the system). If yours is an upgrade version, then you will also
need to possess a CD for a qualifying product (Win95, Win98, WinME) in order
to do a clean installation.
As to the currently installed Office2000, I hope he gave you the disk and
key, as you will eventually need it for something or other (repairs, adding
components, etc.). If he/she didn't, then I suggest you set about getting
one.

I bought an IBM thinkpad off ebay. It came loaded with windows 98 and the
guy said he had upgraded it to Windows 2000 Pro. I really don't like 2000.
I am a home user with a single computer. I would like to upgrade to XP
without losing the Office 2000 that he also put on here. Can I upgrade to
XP home without losing Office and without buying the full version of XP? I
bought the XP home, but I am scared I will crash my computer!!!! Can anyone
help me with this?
