I got a virus and an os repair hasn't helped. I'm trying
to do a clean install, but it won't let me make the
selection to delete the partition. When I just install
the os on top of what is there, there are still old
Program Files there. I want to clean it all up. What
should I do?

Hi Jill

Do you mean that during install you are not give the possibility to delete a
partition? Usually, after drivers etc are loaded you get a screen where you
want to install windows to. there you can choose to delete a partition.

Hello and thanks for your help.
I get a screen that gives me a choice to create a
partition with unused space (hit "C"), write over the
existing installation (hit "enter"), or to delete the
existing partition (hit "D") and the instructions say to
use the up and down arrows to make your selection. But
the up and down arrows don't do anything, hitting "D" does
nothing, so I'm only left with "enter".

Hello,
"L" is not one of the choices. Plus hitting keys "D"
or "C" does nothing which forces me to the only choice
left of "enter", which is to write over the existing
installation.
Is there any other way to wipe clean my hard drive? I
tried to format c:, but I ran into other errors and it did
nothing.

Hi again

Have you tried to make Floppies and use them too boot up? This might work.

If not, you might want to try this tool: http://dban.sourceforge.net/

NOTE: This tool will wipe *all* Harddisk attached so be very very careful!

Hope this helps. Regards,

Fabio
