Want to delete Hiberfil.sys, Hibernation not on - file still exis

Although I have set my machine to "Always on" in the "screen saver/power"
dialog box, the Hiberfil.sys file still exists and will not delete. The file
is not set as read only. I have heard that perhaps I can boot in safe mode
and delete it from a dos type command line?
Anybody know about this?
Man, I need the disk space.

Setting your machine for always on does NOT disable hibernate. Remove the
check from the hibernate option and the file will be gone instantly.

If you do not use hibernation, make sure you do not have it enabled, which
reserves disk space equal to your RAM. If you have a hidden file on the root
directory of your C-drive called hiberfil.sys, hibernation is enabled.

To remove that file, go to Display Properties, Screensaver, Power, Hibernate
tab, and uncheck the Enable hibernation box.
