Hmmm in a issue here really.

I want to change my samsung to BB 9700 now, but i've only just upgraded to this samsung, like 2 months ago. Orange won't let me upgrade on the website so i assume i will have to wait ALOT longer before even considering letting me upgrade. I don't want to leave orange, they've been good to me for like 3 years + but i just really have the urge for the BB 9700, i'm in love with BB messenger for my girlfriend since she actually bloody replies to that quicker then texts, god knows, along with liking BB's too.

Any of you recommend any snidy ways to get out of this predicament or just wait?

I'm assuming you have just renewed your contract if you have a new phone? if you try and leave orange they will ask you to pay a ridiculous amount to cancel your contract, check the small print to be sure and see how much it is. Does your contract have data included in it as well?? if not you'll have to change it which they may also be unwilling to do if you've only just renewed the contract

Only way round it i can think of is to buy a Blackberry handset and sell your Samsung to try and cover some of the cost, you'll probably be looking at £400 to buy it sim free

I've just checked, the blackberry 9700 is around £380 sim free, i don't suppose you know a good website to get a high price for phones by any chance?! :P

Yeah i've changed the plan (since i've been with them for a while) to a websave plan which came effective on the 3/12/2009

I know they will charge me alot hence why i don't want to go that route, but i've checked the bundles on them, the data for BB messenger goes under mobile internet i assume? For unlimited internet it's an extra £10 a month, so i guess i could do that maybe, i need to somehow convince mum to pay that ontop of the original £30 (unlikely)

being a fairly new phone you could probably sell it for a fair amount on ebay or you could probably get £100-£150 from one of the many websites that buy second hand phones

for £30 a month i'd expect you to be getting a pretty good deal, if you don't have web access/data bundle then you'll need to add it, i suppose if you go to a more expensive contract they shouldn't complain about it, your mum on the other hand probably will ;)

Yeah can get like £350 on ebay, however, i stupidly chucked like the box and stuff away, keeping the charger only really, that's gunna gimp the price alot won't it :(

Yeah, ermm, my actual contract is £24, but with stupid TAX and stuff, it goes to £30 anyways, even when i keep within my unlimited texts and like 700 minutes.

without the box you're at the mercy of the people buying it, there is one currently listed at £134 with all accessories but no box and nearly 3 days remaining so you should be able to get around £150-£175. I'd keep an eye on it over the next couple of days and see how much it goes for, if you can afford the difference and get the contract sorted then go for it

Hmm thanks mate, that's a good reference point.

If i can get around £300 then i can pay the difference (no job at the mo!) so hopefully, fingers crossed i can get around that, will let you know!

That may be a bit optimistic but you never know with ebay. Good luck with it

I had a thought last night, how about if i call up Orange, saying that i'm not happy with the phone and if it's possible to change it ... and/or threaten to cancel my contract?

If for some miraculous chance they say i can change the phone, do you think if i ask for them to take like 400 minutes off my plan and swap that for unlimited data they might do that?

Meh don't worry.

They said no :p I'll just have to save up, sell my phone later, buy it sim free, yay! lol

Thanks anyways.

What will happen if i DO sell my phone and buy a blackberry 8900, and ask orange for BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) then they'll know that i've sold the phone, will anything bad happen? lol

Your paying 30 quid a month and not got free data? You need to learn to haggle. Should have told Orange your moving to 02 for an iphone. ;)

Well £24 but with tax and stuff. I never browse the internet on my phone, but with a BB i'd be using BB messenger all the time!

how long you had the phone/contract? how long is it? 18months?

I've got an N97 on the bay atm if you want it? :p

I've had 3 different phones in the last 3 months. :D

Phone about 3 months now, contract started/changed on the 3/12/09 i've been with orange for a good few years. Yeah 18 months.

I really want a blackberry for BB messenger, since my stupid girlfriend seems to respond instantly to messenger, and not text ... lol i know.

lol, new gf would be cheaper! :p
Jokes.

Tbh your best bet is just to ebay the phone if you really want another one, then get a BB of the bay. That is what i do. But then again i always keep the boxes. :D

Just ordered one of these... (not from the bay though)

Ask them bout the BIS first to be sure though.

ha i know :p

Yeah i've put my phone on gumtree for now, will try to get it up on ebay once i see how much this other phone goes for without the box so i can get a good know how of a rough price i might get.

Will call up orange tomorrow and ask if it's possible to add BIS to my contract, i might be cheeky and ask them if they would swap all my minutes for BIS unlimited, since i rarely call :p

there's nothing to stop you changing your contract, im on voda so i dont know what orange do. But you should be able to modify your contract after a month or two of it starting.

Yeah i'm going to add £5 unlimited push email and 500mb of data (that should be more then enough to cover my BB messenging habits, or so i'm told)

Now i just have to sell my phone and get a BB :( if you know anyone V_R (hint hint) hehe ;) perfect condition!

Thanks :p

Meh i f***ing hate samsung phones, Rooted Android is the way forward. ;)
