Only $100,000 plus training costs - bargain

That would be a great way to get to work :D , but I wouldn't want to be on one of those things at a height - the slightest thing going wrong would be curtains for the pilot

I was thinking it would help folks like you and flops with parking problems. Just land and take of from your balcony.

Safe as houses just read the safety link. You are cocooned by the machine. Filled me with confidence.

Health & Safety would have something to say about using it!:p

Safe as houses Feckit , no problems with H+S, it says it is safe.

"Although it is not visually apparent the Martin Jetpack has an internal roll cage. The ducts currently have a carbon kevlar hoop. These are to protect the pilot from side impact. The control arms protect from the front and are designed to snap off in a hard impact, the ducts then further protect the pilot. The structure extends below the level of the spine to prevent injury from a hard landing. In effect the pilot is housed in a protective cocoon by the structure and engine. Further enhancements are planned for impact protection, the goal is to provide impact protection from 30 feet high"

An if that don't convince you there are more safety features.

"Production versions of the Jetpack are equipped with a Ballistic Parachute system from Ballistic Recovery Systems. This enables the pilot to be saved from a catastrophic failure down to a reasonably low altitude. Ballistic parachutes can open at very low altitudes, particularly if the aircraft has some forward speed. For this reason the "flight profiles" will be calculated to have the lowest risk possible. "

Awesomely safe mate.

All well and good, erm but what happens if he fly's smack bang straight on into a tree..Erm there don't appear to be any protection there....

Blimey Mad it is all there in the quote " The control arms protect from the front and are designed to snap off in a hard impact," see. :D Mind you I get your point if the trees circumference was smaller than the gap between the control arms, but then it would be a sappling so no problem

Z I put that on me list. :thumb:

Do you need a licence to drive/fly one of these things? And insurance ?

If not the government will soon introduce them if they ever become remotely popular. :D

Of course the MP's would have to get a grant for them as they need to commute to and from their 2 or 3 houses....LOL
Zzzzz
