I had to do a complete install and don't have my old outlook express program.
I'm not happy with the Windows Mail. Is there any way to get OE back? I
still have my XP install disc.

Clean install of Win XP will do it.

what are your problems with WM.
unfortunately it replaces OE and there is no going back so long as you use Vista.

my main issue is in the signature section. I like to format the text in my
signature and insert images. In OE you have those options but in WM there
plain old text only. I can't even find where to format it to center it. I
resolved a couple of the problems I was having but the signature issue is a
PITA.

use a HTML editing program, create a FILE for your signature and point to the file in setting up signature.
I use FrontPageExpress personally.

I'm posting this using Windows Mail:

The signature is an HTML file and is set up as a signature in Windows Mail. The .gif shows up ok on my machine but I imagine that's because it's reading it direct from the HDD. Don't know why the .gif is showing as a red X when read on another machine. Maybe this is the problem that Judy is referring to.

When you compose a new message make sure its in HTML format (Format | HTML).
Then you can use a signature html file just as in OE via Tools | Options |
Signatures. Also make sure your options are set under Tools | Options |
Send | HTML settings to send pictures with messages.

Send pictures is checked.

The image is not being embedded:

<IMG height=70 src="file://d:\Gifs\geek.gif" >

make sure you have Send pictures with messages checked under Tools | Options
| Send | HTML settings.
