Hi:

I was here about 2 weeks ago (my reader dropped the thread).

Anyway, I want to be able to download into a spreadsheet a set of stocks and
closing prices (and any extra stuff like P/E, change, etc. I can easily
get.)

Someone suggested Yahoo. It will not download a spreadsheet format and I
can't copy and paste because the stock symbols are also URLs.

Any other places for stock data (doesn't have to be current, just closing
prices) or hints on how I can make Yahoo do what I want?

Thanks,

jlg

I think you can get Yahoo to download a spreadsheet format. For
example, for YHOO go to
http://chart.yahoo.com/d?a=10&b=17&c=2003&d=1&e=18&f=2004&g=d&s=yhoo
this gives you the YHOO daily price data for the last several months.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a hotlink entitled
DOWNLOAD SPREADSHEET FORMAT Click this, then copy and paste into your
blank spreadsheet (Control + A, C, V) In my experience this works,
but you may have to do a sort to get the data in correct chronological
sequence. HTH

BTW, is there a free web service available on the net, for inclusion of such
information on a web page? I have a web page project that requires such a
feature. All advice are welcome.

Thanks in advance

This one was posted recently and works o.k:

Mucho thanx for this, a real keeper.
Allows me to auto update prices directly into my existing analysis
spreadsheet saving me much data entry.
A real find, now if Quotecat would only provide streaming quotes and
trading from my analysis spreadsheet!<eg>
