want database to appear as Outlook Address Book

We have an existing database which we maintain daily. It contains email
addresses. Is there a way for Outlook to use it as an address book? Can we
make it available as a company wide resource? I don't want to use
import/export because then you either have two copies to maintain or you
have a daily, labor intensive, error prone job to be performed.

thanks for your advice.

You should note that I waited two days before choosing a different forum and
posting a request for help. The problem is that in the other forum, I also
received a reply that didn't answer my question. So, like your non-answer
below, people will see that I received a reply and then not jump in to help.
Now it seems my only choice is to wait several weeks, and post yet another
request for help on this subject.

It would be most helpful to not reply to a post if you can't help.

Russ,

Why are we writing these words to each other and not focusing on the
technical issue? You have now written four replies to me without providing
one stitch of assistance. Not only that but you're wrong. The two posts
below come two days after my original post.

....and the only reason I posted them is because your insulting demeanor
failed to provide any solution to the original post but simply smart-mouthed
me for some reason which I fail to understand.

....and so here I am, still without a solution and wondering why are you
allowed to fill this forum with such garbage? No doubt you'll reply once
again without providing any help at all.

Telling you to follow newsgroup etiquette (no multiposting, no caps) is
not insulting. The people who reply here have to sift through hundreds
of messages per day. It shows a lack of respect on your part towards the
people replying (who are all volunteers, users like you, who reply in
their free time) if you multipost.
There is no moderator here (these are newsgroups, not forums) and you
not following newsgroup etiquette and insulting a regular poster will
get you no answer at all.

I'm not clear on the technical difference between not getting an answer and
"get you no answer at all"? Also please note, you've given me an additional
"not an answer" more than I predicted.

How do you guys make time for this? Why does Microsoft allow you to fill
these forums with stuff like this?

I appreciate the effort Sue made. It appears SQLView does exactly what I
asked for, for single users on a SQL database. It's my fault that I didn't
ask more specifically. I have not found a solution for doing the same thing
with Access.

Nevertheless, unlike Sue, you didn't have a solution but posted anyway.
Your response of "Only Contacts Folders can be enabled to appear in the
Outlook address book view or as the repositories for addresses for messages
sent from Outlook", was completely unnecessary. Your response was the
reason I reposted in a different forum two days later. Thankfully, Sue
recognized that a solution exists and provided me with a direction to
investigate.

The part that agitates me the most is you've been throwing that attitude at
me from the very beginning without even suggesting the possibility of a
solution. ...and how many messages have we exchanged now? Shame on you.

a) No, there is no moderator here.

b) Because this is a public forum and, so long as the language stays clean
and adult, Microsoft doesn't remove posts. Face it, some people are rude in
this world and they are allowed to be that way.

Here's the view from the other side of the cage:
By your own admission, your first post was too vague for anyone to know
exactly what you were asking. As a result, my first response did not address
what later became a somewhat different question. By that time, I saw that
Sue had picked up the thread in another group to which you multiposted not 2
days later but only 4 minutes later. Accordingly, there was no need to
continue the thread in this group. The only thing left to do was to admonish
you against multiposting, so I did.
Vague posts and multiposting both create extra work for the volunteers who
try to keep up in these groups and are considered rude.
Typing someone's personal name in the subject line in all caps as an insult
is considered rude.
If you think admonishing you not to multipost is equally as rude as you have
been, then I apologize.
