Hello

We have setup remote access to a number of workstations on our office LAN.
Problem we have is that sometimes users forget to leave their computers
switched on when they leave and find that they cannot connect! I was
wondering if we switched on the Wake on LAN feature whether this would get
the computers to switch on when a user tried to connect over the network?

Anyone tried this?

Realise there would be quite a delay in connecting as PC boots up, but would
be good if this works.

I have tried this or similar enough to say I've tried this. I ended up with
PCs booting randomly or just plain staying on. There's a magic packet that
you can send but I've never managed to get that to work well either. They'd
need to capture their MAC address and LAN address and then make it all the
way through the firewall and router just to reach it. Needless to say that
didn't work so hot where I was and we ended up just having the PCs always on
with the monitor off and disks set to stop after a few hours.
