I have just had a hard drive fail on my PC running an upgrade version (from
98SE) of XP Home. I had recently backed up all the files onto tape.
I have installed a new hard drive and have taken the oppertunity to upgrade
to XP Pro full version (NTFS format). I created a new folder within the new
C drive and restored all the files to it. My problem is that everything
appears to be there - all my data, photos etc, but how do I transfer my
messages and address book to Outlook Express - search for *.wab & *.dbx
gives no results. Where have those files gone? What do I need to do? Have I
lost these files?

Hello,

If i'm not remebering wrong, they are in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME_HERE>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{0D8A4FCB-86E3-4C09-8BB9-DF93C190563E}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express

where one or more folders are hidden, which might cause the files to not
show up when searching (depends on your settings).

Please verify that this is the correct folder, by asking this in an Outlook
Express newsgroup.
