Hi, I am trying to implement group policies on some W98 clients on my SBS2k
network.
I have installed system policy editor and group policies onto my test W98
pc.
I have grouppol.dll in the correct directory and registed it also just to be
on the safe side.
I went into system policy editor and created a new group policy based on a
security group I had created on the 2k server. I browsed to that security
group from the test pc so that part is fine.
I saved the policy file (config.pol) into the following share:
\\servername\netlogon\ This equates to the directory:
c:\winnt\sysvol\sysvol\domain\scripts
I have added the test user account into the security group.
However, when I log on as the test user, the policies are not set.
I have done the following troubleshooting:
Opened sys pol editor and opened registry on local computer and set the
remote update to manual and specified the path \\servername\netlogon
and also set error reporting. This returned the following:
Unable to update configuration from \\servername\netlogon:
Error 5: acces is denied
I have also set the remote update to auto (use default path) and left error
reporting on and no error was returned.
Authenticated users have write access to the relevant directories and share
permissions are read and change
I'm a bit stumped to be honest so if anyone out there has tried to do
similar, any chance of some pointers??
Thanks
Rob
