In a small network I am attempting to replace a hub with a router.
1. 'Everything' works with the hub.
2. I attempt to replace the hub with the router as follows:
- replace crossover cable from dsl-modem to hub with straight through
cable, plug this in WAN port on router
- unplug stations (3) from hub and plug them into router
- power up and test
Station A & C seem fine - both can access the internet as before.
Problem.
Station B cannot see the network if the *router* is used (it can with
a hub), this station also has a shared printer attached.
I think it's some type of software configuration problem. It has
happened before (B can't see network) and I guess it was a simple
configuration issue and a "why did they do it that way?".
A and B are in the same workgroup and share a printer.
What would cause these symptoms?
