We recently moved our network into a W2K AD and moved our
current student population from Novell to AD. In doing so,
we created their accounts with temporary passwords and
force them to change it upon first logon. All of our
students have laptops and only our last year students have
W98. We installed the DSClient so they can authenticate to
our AD environment for printing. However, because they
are forced to change their password, they cannot login.
If we uncheck the "must change password on next login" on
their account, they can login from their W98 laptop and
later change it from the Control Panel. We really want to
force the password change.
We setup our arrangement according to Mark
Minasi's "Windows 2000 Server" book. He mentions that "If
your password expires, you get a handy little message
along with a dialog box to change it." (pg 967). Well, we
don't get this, just an error message that "The domain
password you supplied is not correct or access to your
logon server has been denied."
Am I missing a step here? Any help on this matter would be
appreciated.
