w32.welcher in DLLHOST

hello,
a friend has a problem with xp. after getting a virus he
ran norton and was able to clear up all but one file. it
is the
c:windows/system32/wins/DLLHOST
and the problem is called "w32.welcher" (im not 100% sure
if thats correct as i didnt write it down).

can this file be manually deleted without causing any
porblems? and is this a common problem? he isnt able to do
anything on the internet so updating windows or norton is
out but most other things work ok. thanks

Hey Joe,

Delete it.
Its a file added as part of the worm. There may be others, although it
sounds like norton got em.

go on that site,download"fixwelch.exe",save it on
desktop,then disconnect internet and disable system
restore.run fixwelch removal tool which is on your
desktop.its easy,good luck
