Is anyone familiar with this virus? It seems that the NET is unaware
because various google searching has resulted in nothing. Any advice
is appreciated.

Use Project VGRep. Here's a hit:

http://www.virusbtn.com/resources/vgrep/vgrep.cgi?terms=w32/Istbar.k&product=0

From which you can get alias names and sometime descriptions with
removal info such as this:

http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=TROJ_ISTBAR.EH

Does this description match the malware?
