mcafee stinger program found a virus in c:_RESTORE\ARCHIVE\FS289.CAB file.

what do you think?

I think that as it resides in the restore point, I wouldn't
really care at all about it.

....but you might want to purge the restore point(s) to avoid any
possibility that it might ever become a threat by your attempting
to use that restore point.

Disable the restore feature, reboot, re-enable it if desired, and
reboot again, and you will automatically have a new restore
point created. I don't have ME so I don't know the specifics
on how to navigate to those options.

Don't know about on ME but on XP you don't have to reboot between
turning on & off the restore

Thanks for the info.

I don't have either of those OSes, but I had assumed the reboot
was needed for purging. Most times that I read a procedure which
was without the reboot, it was disabled so you could scan *and
affect* the files detected, not in order to purge the restore points.

Anyway, I should just say "purge the restore points" and assume
that the poster knows how to work with their machine's OS. ;o)
