I can not get my W2K pc to "see" my XP pc on a home
network (on a router using DHCP). Both units access the
same workgroup fine. And both units see themselsves. The
XP unit sees the W2K unit but can't access the W2K pc due
to lack of permission, which I have been unable to set up
on the W2K pc.

I have been tring to give the XP pc permissions by going
here: Control panel>Administrative tools>Computer
Management, on the W2K pc. But must be doing something
wrong.

Any suggestions? Or a good tutorial on the web for
basic sharing on W2K system.

Your Almost there. Once your in computer management go to
local users and groups. Set up a user that has the same
name and password you use to log on to the XP machine. If
your xp machine does not ask you for a user and password
when you start up go to control panel user accounts and
creat a new user to match a user on the win2k box.
