I've been a developer for 10 years, and these last 5 years
I've been doing VB6 and ASP, however I think it's time for
me to expand my expertise by getting into dot.net.

I will be taking a C# course in January, and I'm trying to
decide what setup to install. I know I will use VS.net
Enterprise Edition, but what I haven't decided on is
whether to upgrade from W2K to either XP Pro or Win2003.
Any suggestions?

Are there any other tools that I should install? I have a
laptop and a WS at home on a wireless network if that
helps. I will be doing all my development on my laptop.

Are there any installation tips or tricks that will help
my installation go smoothly?

I use virtual PC on my laptop - if you have resources available, it really
simplifies your dev efforts, and it make it very easy to repave your dev
machine without impacting the host operating system. I currently have
Whidbey, Everett, and Longhorn guest installations on my laptop. But if you
have to pick one OS, then W2K3 has newer MSMQ and Enterprise Services
features.
