W2K to W2K3 Upgrade

I had two Windows 2000 DC's in my domain running DHCP and DNS. I added a
Windows 2003 DC and moved DNS and DHCP to the new DC from one of the W2K DC's
and shut it down. I have DHCP and DNS running on the remaining W2K DC. So I
have one W2K DC running DHCP/DNS and one W2K3 DC running DHCP/DNS.

I have encountered a problem where the DHCP servers indicate that DNS update
is pending, as show by the icon displayed by the DHCP console for each lease.
I have done some testing and have determined that DNS records are being
created/updated by the clients when they renew their lease, yet the DHCP
console shows the update as pending.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, I have used the DNSUpdateProxy group to
give full permissions to the DC's to the affected forward and reverse lookup
zones, but the updates still show as pending.

I think that this is a communication issues between DNS and DHCP, but I am
concerned that clients are not getting updated reliably when they renew their
address.

I have been troubleshooting this for days and can't seem to get
anywhere...please help!

UPDATE: After more review, I think I have solved the problem. DHCP was
updating the forward record but not the reverse record. The proper reverse
lookup zones had not been created and configured for dynamic update.
Therefore, after creating and configuring them, the problem seems to be
solved. I will sit on the issue and make sure for the next few days.
