Have a W2K Adv Server doing simple folder sharing in a workgroup.
Have user X defined as member of the Administrators group.
Have Share Permissions for user X only.
Result: user X, logged onto an XP machine on the network (with appropriate
id & psw), cannot access the folder....I was careful to insure that the
passwords and ids matched between server and workstation user accounts. If
I add 'Everyone' to the Share Permissions Name list, user X can access the
folder.
So, while this gets the user access to the folder, it doesn't allow me to
lock everyone else out. This really should be very simple...If I do the
same [folder sharing with defined user] on a W2K workstation, the sharing
works as expected.
I've been all over the Microsoft website and don't see why W2K Adv Svr would
be any different than W2K Pro. Am I missing something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
