W2K Svr - WinXP Folder Share Problem

Have a W2K Adv Server doing simple folder sharing in a workgroup.
Have user X defined as member of the Administrators group.
Have Share Permissions for user X only.
Result: user X, logged onto an XP machine on the network (with appropriate
id & psw), cannot access the folder....I was careful to insure that the
passwords and ids matched between server and workstation user accounts. If
I add 'Everyone' to the Share Permissions Name list, user X can access the
folder.

So, while this gets the user access to the folder, it doesn't allow me to
lock everyone else out. This really should be very simple...If I do the
same [folder sharing with defined user] on a W2K workstation, the sharing
works as expected.

I've been all over the Microsoft website and don't see why W2K Adv Svr would
be any different than W2K Pro. Am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Am leaving this for future reference...

I discovered that after installing the W2K server (after WinXP machines were
installed) that the network id on the XP machines was set to 'administrator'
rather than the matching local user's windows logon. i.e. I went to
Start-Settings-Control Panel-User Accounts....then selected my user
id...then selected 'Manage my network passwords' under Related Tasks (left
side). There I highlighted the target server and clicked the Properties
button....where finally, I could change the id & password to match that
which was defined for the corresponding target server user account. I had
to logoff & logon the XP machine for it to take effect. (The shared folder
permissions were set to to XP user only)

All is working as desired.
