Hiya group.

I have a Win2000 Pro box that isn't working with DHCP (at least).

The DHCP Client service is started Automatically, running currently.

The Network card drivers were updated from the manufacturer, ran sfc
/scannow to try to find the problem, and TCP/IP was uninstalled,
rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted.

For curiosity sake, I assigned a free TCP/IP address in the subnet and
it was able to talk out and was able to reply to pings.

I've obviously got administrative rights on the box (because of the
above statement) -- and would be willing to try things that are
presented to me.

I'd love to get this box back running -- with DHCP -- and would
appreciate any help. Thank you,

Update:

I did a clean installation of UltraVNC, asked it to listen on the
network, but netstat -an shows *NO* indication that uVNC (abbreviated
UltraVNC) is actually creating a socket.

One more note I forgot to mention in the original post:
Everytime I try to renew DHCP on a DHCP enabled NIC, it says:
"An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket."

I'm hitting Google again, and would appreciate tips, thank you!

Sorry to bother everyone -- I hadn't searched for the right terms before
posting here.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817571 -- fixed my problem.

No problem. You hunted it down and solved the problem yourself, tht's fine!

I have seen some software that came with poorly done LSP's (Newdot.net,
Bearshare) that would really screw up the Winsock registry entried that
required pretty much the same fix as you did here.
