I also would like the answer to that problem. I had a
similar experience last week installing SP4 to W2k
server. Except it aborted because it was missing a
required file: ism.dll. Then reverted to the archived
settings. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry, no answers, just the same problem. The first
message says "SP4iis - Required dll not found", then, when
I OK that message, I get "Failed to remove ism.dll script
mappings" - then it all rolls back. This has occurred
three times now ....

Time for Microsoft to fix it, I have the same problem but did not archive the files... I now have a mixed updated AD controller, which probably will not startup anymore on reboot ... Also tried it several times...

Actually, after not finding anyone else whose solution worked for me,
I've determined that the missing DLL is
%windir%\system32\inetsrv\asp.dll. I copied this file from another
WIN2K/SP3 machine and then was able to complete the SP4 installation
without incident. Hope this may help others.
