Hello, how can I play DVD Movies under Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 only
with boardtools of Windows 2000 without installing big software packets
or movie Players?

When I insert a DVD I have the option to click on the right mouse
button and I can choose "play", but then Windows shows me, that I
cannot play the DVD - I dont know why.

My system should be good enought to play that:

W2000 SP4
P4 2,8 GHZ
1GB RAM
LG4167B DVD Burner

You'll need some DVD player software ie WinDVD or PowerDVD etc

VLC works well for most DVDs. It isn't very big either -- about 9 MB.

PowerDVD is better, but you have to pay for it.

Hello,
thank you for your answer, but I thougt I could use the DVD Program
which is included in W2K: DVDPLAY.EXE
What is about that program? Isn't it for use? I thought I only need a
codec but I dont know which codec and I dont know where to copy the
codec so that Windows accepts it

There's no such thing native to Windows 2000.

You can't go much below 9MBs even if you do find a codec. And frankly a
system in your class likely has AT LEAST a 20 gb hard drive, possibly
much larger . Why pinch megabytes?

It is much, much, much easier and time-efficient to download the stupid
program and forget about WiMP integration. Even if you'are on dial up,
the download time is less than the finding-and-integrating-a-codec
time.
