We have a W2K server with 2GB DDR ECC RAM.
For no apparent reason it just locks up.
No BSOD. No nothing... except a black screen that can only be
cleared with a power reset.
It is running TS with about 20 clients.
The funny thing is if you remove either stick of RAM to leave 1GB,
it all works fine.
Any ideas.
Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-8IEXP(2.0)
PIV 2.4

try going into the BIOS and pressing CTRL & F1 an additional menu option for advanced memory options
may appear.

We had a GA-8ST800 which was dodgy with a stick of RAM (512MB; 266 or 333MHz) in
the second or third slots - it would lock up in Photoshop/W2000. Swapped for
replacement m/b and problem gone. Until the hot weather two weeks later, when
the replacement GA-8ST800 decided it wouldn't start with a graphics card that
ran faster than AGP 1x. I made sure the latest replacement was from a different
batch, and it's holding up so far.
