Mr. M

VPN worked fine (past 18 months) until I installed the MS03-026 : Buffer
Overrun In RPC Interface Could Allow Code Execution (823980) hotfix on the
server.

I also installed on xp and w2kclients, but I cannot connect from clients
that do not have the HF installed.

Also tried to connect directly with a client inside the LAN to bypass
firewall/routing issues. no joy.

Server is W2k Server with SP4 installed (approx 4 weeks no probs).

Native mode, AD, getting the 781 error, I have not used SSL Certificates.

Called MS TS and am in the process of working with them, will post details
later.

Am going to uninstall the HF to see if RAS comes back. Then may install HF
again. Also may reinstall SP4 if reapplying the HF breaks RAS again.

If anyone has any thoughts let 'em fly...

TIA

The same thing happened to me but I was running on NT 4.0.
I installed the latest HF and RRAS just stopped working.
The very next day I found an article on page 6 of
NetworkWorld titled "When patches go bad". It says that a
Windows NT patch released on July 23 actually causes the R
&RAS on NT 4.0 machines to fail. I was a day late...

This is why I posted today because I am having problems
building a new system and getting clients assigned the
right subnet and default gateway from DHCP or RRAS.
