I'm trying to re-install W2k Professional from CD-ROM on a
system that already has W2k on it but it's not booting
from the CD but instead goes to the logon screen.

In setup, I've verified that the boot order is CD first
then HDD but it still isn't reading the CD first. I've
put the W2k CD in another PC and it works fine and I've
tried another CD in the W2k machine and it reads that fine.

Can anyone suggest something? Thanks.

Usually you will receive a message at boot that will detect a bootable
cdrom and tell you to hit any key to do such or else it just boots into the
hard drive. It is also possible your cdrom is not on the W2K compatability
list, though unlikely. If the W2K in there is still working, just navigate
to the cd in explorer and execute setup that way. You can also make
installation floppies from the cdrom by running makeboot.exe. -- Steve
