I was seting up the networking on my W2K machine to talk
to my XP macine -- changed the workgroup, domain, and
name of the PC. Once the changes were made the PC told
me that I must reboot the PC for the changes to take
effect, "would you like to restart your computer" -- I
selected yes. The computer rebooted, but when I pressed
cntl, alt, del to login the it would no longer recocnize
my login -- argh!! Looks like I'm screwed here. Can
anyone help out with this?

If this is a work computer, bring it back to the office and grovel
obsequiously to the system administrator and ask them to re-join the
computer to the domain.

You didn't need to change your computer's domain/workgroup membership to do
what you wanted to do - and you've now painted yourself into a corner unless
you know the local administrator credentials, and your work profile is gone.
No offense, but this is one reason a lot of admins never grant local admin
rights to user accounts....this happens all the time :-)
