I am installing w2k to upgrade from 98. Setup proceeds
after accepting key code through examination of current
files and then delivers a page fault at xxx location. I
tried cleaning off the disk but no go. The xxx of course
refers to particular memory locations. Please let me know
if I have to provide the exact addresses. I did not write
them down so if required I will have to run again to get
them. Actually setup runs a good 15 minutes before
delivering a page fault and reporting that an illegal
action has been performed and saying it must close

Thanks in advance for your help

Make sure you've removed antivirus (don't just disable),
pcAnywhere-type programs and 3rd party device drivers that
may not be compatible with Windows 2000 (check your hardware
vendors for new/updated drivers that you can install after
you've upgraded). See if you're able to complete
installation. If not, please write down the specific text
of the error message (while the memory addresses may or may
not be useful, it's better just to include it).

Al Thanks to Daniel Chang. I have VNC a free
pcanywhere "type" program. I will try deleting VNC and a
few old drivers as you suggest.
