Hi there,
Does anyone have a W2K dialup outbound traffic(out bytes in dialup
networking monitor) explanation?
It seems it generates a lot of outbound traffic which affects bandwidth on a
dialup connection.
With NT4 I did not seem to get as much.
Thanks a lot, Calin

Do you have a firewall? GET ONE RIGHT NOW! A firewall will identify
that traffic and warn you or block it if it's not legit. It could be
spyware or other malware that you have on your machine or just simply
valid software that wants to call home for updates etc., like antivirus
software for example.

Hi John,
I do not have spyware, popus and ilegit programs under Task manager also
have firewall and ativirus.
I was just thining W2K might use more resources or the combination NT4-W2K
might have browsing issues.

Good. W2k generates no more or no less outbound traffic than other
Windows versions. Enable logging in your firewall and see if you can
find an explanation from the log. Do you have "Auto-Update" enabled in
your AV software? Other programs also have the same kind of auto update
set to kick on when you get on the net or when you use them while on the
net.
