W2k desktop icons

I organise my desktop icons in positions that I find convenient.

In the last couple of days on bootup they appear arranged as
though I have selected 'auto arrange' which I haven't.

I can easily get back my preferred arrangement because I have
installed one of the programs to save and 'Restore Desktop Icon
Layout'.

I guess the icon arrangement in the registry has become corrupted
but I don't know where to look or how to fix it. Any help
appreciated.

Update:

I think it may be connected to MBAM. As soon as I downloaded the
latest version, the icon positions suddenly went to 'auto
arrange'.
