Please can anyone help with this problem. I am not a
software wiz. MS want money to fix.
Problem Description: My SCSI HDD no longer operates since
installing SP4 for W2000 professional. It has to be
disconnected in order for computer to run.
SCSI card is initio INI-91000UW and has run for 22 months
with this HDD no prob. It still works my SCSI Pioneer CD
reader OK with SP4. I used SP2 without problems. A good
while ago I downloaded SP3 and had the same problem. I
reinstalled SP2.
Problem Area: Installation
Frequency of problem: Always Happens
Operating system / version: Microsoft Windows 2000
Professional - 5.0.2195
Computer manufacturer and model: VIA Technologies, Inc.,
VT82C694X
Processor model and speed: I586II, 997 MHz
Memory (RAM): 163.312 MB

could be a bum driver, not the service pack. Since you didn't mention
whether or not you have tried getting a newer driver for the scsi card, I
will suggest that you do that first.

Checked everywhere for later drivers. SP4 claims to
recognise and support the card, but it does not work with
the HDD. I now have similar compatibilty problems on the
IBM A20 laptop after installing SP4. The OKIpage 4W+
printer driver is not seen on the floppy. All this was
fine before. There are some strange changes in behaviour
with SP4. So far the TrackPoint won't work either.
